PREREQUISITES FOR VOLUNTEERING
Each volunteer must complete an application form and attend one of the free training sessions. Telephone volunteers must be Christians who wholeheartedly trust the Bible as God’s Word and who are at least 18 years of age. Volunteers also must submit an application that is signed by a pastor or other church leader.

TRAINING
With training from the Billy Graham team, you will be ready and equipped to help callers respond to the Gospel message. Attend one of the free volunteer training sessions, where you will receive practical instruction to help you answer callers’ questions about various topics including drug abuse, depression, and God’s will.

In 1980, a handful of employees at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) headquarters set up a few telephones and hoped that the local telecast would generate some responses. Soon, an avalanche of calls overwhelmed these volunteers, and within months, 200 telephones were installed and operating at the BGEA headquarters. Telephone centers around the country were later opened to keep up with the demand.
Today, phone centers across North America are filled several times a year with hundreds of trained volunteers responding to hundreds of thousands of calls for help, salvation, and comfort.
